Dog-friendly beaches / swimming spots near Cambridge?

I'm wondering if anyone knows any good beaches, ponds, or other swimming spots nearby that are dog-friendly? I love Walden but "no dogs allowed". I haven't been able to find any public ocean-side beaches in Massachusetts that allow dogs during the day in the Summer (some, like Crane, allow dogs in the off-season).

My neighbor friend's coworker is looking for new home for 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs together. They are 6 years old female and very well trained siblings. Unfortunately, their owner, who was a founder of Bernese Mountain Dog Association in MA, past away 6 month ago and her husband past away 6 weeks ago. Is someone seriously interested in? Please let me know.

Planet Dog to stop producing goods in China

Planet Dog, one of our favorite dog toy manufacturers, has decided to stop producing dog toys in China in favor of bringing production much closer to home. They'll be using manufacturers in Maine and Massachusetts, according to this October 30 article in the Morning Sentinel.

CNN.com posted a story today about 10 dogs that changed the course of history, including the first dog in space (a Russian stray who, tragically, did not survive the trip, but who pushed the US to accelerate our space program), the Newfoundland who saved Napoleon's life, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who had final say on all of Wagner's operatic compositions.

CNN reports that TripAdvisor has made a list of the top ten pet-friendly accomodations in the US based on the votes of over 1,100 of its members worldwide.

3 of the winners are in our backyard, including number 3, the Gazebo Inn in Ogunquit, Maine, number 4, the Spruce Moose Lodge and Cottages in North Conway, New Hampshire, and number 7, Cambridge's very own Hotel Marlowe!

Do you walk your dog on the Minuteman Trail?

The Boston Globe reported on July 1 that the Minuteman Trail is so crowded that it has led to "bikeway rage", according to the Arlington Police Chief. Apparently Arlington does not have the funding to widen the path, so for the time being, users will need to coexist as we do elsewhere.
