It turns out that one in 10 dog owners can't imagine not dressing up their pup for the holiday and nearly half (49 percent ) admitted liking the idea. Categories: Community Education & Outreach The Boston Globe reported recently: Harbor House Village on Nantucket has a new, stand-alone extension called Woof Hotel , where dogs and owners are more than welcome. The 12-room hotel features Woof Park, a fenced-in dog run. Frisbees and ID tags with hotel contact information are presented at check-in, and the rooms contain a basket of treats, a doggie beach towel, toys, food and water bowls, and a doggie bed. The hotel also has a doggie directory, listing Nantucket dog runs and activities. On Friday evenings from 6-8, June-September, guests can gather in Woof Park for a Yappy Hour consisting of treats for the canine and Cisco Brewery's Hair of the Dog beer for humans. Categories: Community Education & Outreach The Boston Globe reported on June 10 that Grey2K (attendees at the Pacific Street Park opening on June 10) and the rest of the Committee to Protect Dogs intend to try again to pass a ban on greyhound racing on the 2008 ballot. Categories: Community Education & Outreach Read this interesting article in the May 21st edition of Newsday about pet owners' rights to sue for pain and suffering following the loss of a pet (due to, for example, tainted food). Apparently, MA is considering a similar approach (although I could find no mention of this on the web-if you can, please post it). Categories: Community Education & Outreach We don't want to spread fear unnecessarily, but Jen Wright of the Cambridge Conservation Commission has told us that Fisher Cats have been spotted at Fresh Pond. These weasel-like animals have been known to attack cats and small dogs in broad daylight, so please be aware of your off-leash canine companions.
